Polished Stone

polishedstoneheader

Wary and distrustful, an eleven year old Harry Potter takes his destiny into his own hands.

Warnings: Mentions of child abuse.

Arc 1

Arc 2

Summary: Six years after the events at Hogwarts, the soul bound pair return to the school where it had all started, looking for the means to end the conflict that began before Harry Potter was born.

Warnings: Adult content. Graphic sex and scenes of violence. No, not at the same time… although…nah, not at the same time. Yet. LOL For those who need that translated: there’s plenty of smut between two blokes who like it like that, and there’s also blood, guts and gore. And swearing. We musn’t forget the swearing. Foul language ahead.

I look forward to reading this very interesting story when it’s done. I am curious though if I’m the only one who has the white background with black print change to black background with faint gray print about half way through both pts 1 and 2?

I’ve reviewed both pages, and they appear to be fine. No one else has commented of a colour change. I’m afraid I’m not savvy enough to offer a solution. Sorry ;D

It did it to me, too, but I think it is a browser issue. I normally use Firefox, but this does happen on longer WordPress pages – switching to reading it in Chrome ‘fixed’ it.

I love this story. It was one of my favourites from Rough Trade’s November round, and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of Arc 2 when it’s done.

totally brilliant story, one of the best fanfics I ever read (and I’ve read thousands). I hope you finish this, even if it takes a while. Thank you for writing this! Definitely 10/10 stars!!!

Further to my earlier comments, how do we get notified of Arc 2 posting?

So far as I’m aware, if you signed up to be a follower/member, then you get email notification of new postings. Hope that helped 😀

I dunno if it will since I’m not really into your SG-1 stuff. But anyway, I’ll try to remember to keep checking this place. Will you be using this page as like, sort of a ‘contents’ page for ‘Polished Stone’?

You are beyond amazing. This is one of the best rewrites of the series I’ve ever read – and it’s only first year! How many years do you plan to cover in all?

I’m sitting here, racking my brain for a way to tell you what I loved so much about it that actually makes it sound like I’m a writer (I am, though not on this site; I post scads of fanfiction on AO3 and FF.net, and off the net write poetry and start loads of original novels that I never finish), but the only thing I find myself saying is, “Everything. I love *everything*. The whole damn story is one long exercise in perfection.” It would be much faster to mention what I DIDN’T love about the story… that is, if I could think of anything.

    *thinks*

    Nope, I got nothing.

You, my friend, are unbelievable. I can barely stand in the presence of your sheer awesome. (Fortunately for me, I’m sitting down right now.)

I can’t even begin to tell you how eager I am for Arc 2!

I’ll be rec’ing this on my Drarry FB page (as it’s the second largest Drarry page on FB, it should get quite a few views), as well as the other FB groups I’m part of. I feel compelled to spread word of this mind-blowing fic. I may even go door-to-door, knocking and offering to share the good news.

In all seriousness, though, thank you. I was just lamenting the other day that there are so very few well-written and thorough Drarry rewrites of the series that start in first year, other than the Sacrifices Arc. I’ve read a few others that were excellent, but either ended up making Harry and Draco best friends rather than romantic interests, or didn’t continue beyond first or second year. Actually, none of them continued beyond fourth year. I don’t know how far you plan to go right now (I’m unashamedly cheering for a full rewrite), but if you cut the series off while the boys are still young, I do hope that you give us an epilogue for closure. This has the potential to be as good as the Sacrifices Arc – though they are different enough that I think it might be hard to judge that sort of thing.

I have several different avenues through which I rec fics (most on FB), and since I always try to be discerning and particular, a lot of people either read or bookmark them as soon as they see them, and I intend to use all of those avenues to promote this fic. (I usually only use FB, since it takes more time and effort to post recs on Tumblr, LJ, Twitter, and my primary blog in addition to FB.)

This is 80% selfishness on my part. 10% is wanting to share an amazing fic with others – usually the biggest part of my motivation in posting a rec. Another 10% is the desire to bring in more readers to express appreciation to the author for doing such a good job, thereby providing him or her with some additional well-earned warm fuzzies. The remaining 80% is simply because I know that the more readers a fic has, the more motivation the writer usually feels not only update quickly, but to finish it I want to do everything I can to motivate you as much as I can to continue this series for as long as possible, not leave it unfinished, and update as swiftly as RL and your muse allow. Like I said; pure selfishness. 😉
